Miscellaneous manuscripts, [1657?], 1665.

Two documents on paper from Rome, one in Italian and one in Latin, by the then cardinal Secretary of State Giulio Rospigliosi, who later became Pope Clement IX. In the Italian document, dated December 26, 1665, Giulio Rospigliosi thanks Pope Alexander VII for his Christmas greetings, and expresses the desire to serve the Church in any office the Pope may deem him suitable for. The Latin document is signed "fiat ut petitur J," and probably written in the summer of 1657. It contains a concession from Rospigliosi, concerning an Andreas and Joannis, and discusses honors, privileges, and indulgences from the papal court, and notes that if fraud is involved, then these pardons would be relinquished. A couple of lines have been struck out in the Latin document.
